One of the most thrilling racing games of its time, which was once available for free on PlayStation Plus, is set to be sunset soon.

According to information available on the PlayStation Store, Codemasters’ Grid Legends will have its online servers shut down on September 11, 2026. This will only affect PlayStation and Xbox platforms. After that, players will no longer be able to access the game’s multiplayer features, including cross-platform play, online multiplayer modes, Quick Race, Dynamic Events, and leaderboards. That being said, offline experiences will remain available. Players can continue playing the campaign and other single-player modes beyond the date of shutdown. The game also doesn’t have any online trophies, so you won’t lose out on any achievements you’ve bagged so far or in the future.

Grid Legends is also available on PC and Nintendo Switch, but EA, the publisher, hasn’t indicated a similar fate for the game on those platforms. So, if you own the game on either of those platforms, you should still be able to access multiplayer beyond September 11.

Being the fifth and latest installment in the iconic series, Grid Legends definitely carved out a place for itself in the popular genre....
