Fallout 5 Official Release Date Update Leaves Gamers Split

There's absolutely no doubt that the recent Prime Video adaptation has thrust the Fallout franchise back to the front of the public consciousness. Rightly so, with the show doing a wonderful job of adapting decades of lore into an entirely new medium, while retaining the humor and over-the-top violence that the series is known for.

With all of that good stuff happening, it's all the more galling that we haven't had a new entry in the single-player series for over a decade, with that not particularly likely to change any time soon. That said, things are changing, and a major change in attitude could have huge consequences for Fallout.

In case you missed all of the hubbub at the time, long time Xbox head Phil Spencer recently (and quite suddenly) left the company, to be replaced by Asha Sharma. The new leadership has already made a bunch of popular changes, but a new report in The Information suggests they are far from done.

Specifically, Sharma really wants to prioritize several flagship franchises, with Fallout at the top of that list, flanked by The Elder Scrolls and Halo. That further means that she'll be hoping to avoid heading...
