Whilst the world of Cyberpunk 2077 may be vast and full to the brim with narrative opportunities, the setting of Night City did not begin there. Long before CD Projekt RED breathed life into the world courtesy of hit RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, the world of Cyberpunk was already established courtesy of a tabletop role-playing game created by Mike Pondsmith and published by R. Talsorian Games in 1988.
It was here that Night City was first created and a legend was born, but when CDPR decided to choose this world to turn into an award-winning RPG, that was when the magic of the franchise truly came alive.
Fast-forward six years and the love for Cyberpunk 2077 is as strong as ever. Not only was the first game a success, but so too was its first and only DLC, Phantom Liberty. On top of that, there has been an award-winning anime series by Netflix which was swiftly renewed for a second season, but CDPR also revealed that a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel was also in development, although it may be a few years until we get our hands on that one.
