Octopath Traveler is making an official comeback in the form of a new RPG in October 2026, and if you’re a fan of the iconic Square Enix series, you won’t want to miss out on it. The franchise was released to critical acclaim in 2019, inaugurating a new art style for the company: HD-2D. Since then, the IP has seen a direct sequel, a mobile gacha spin-off, and, recently, a AAA retelling of the story of that spin-off without the gacha mechanics in the not-so-great Octopath Traveler 0, even if it’s still fun to play and gorgeous to look at.
Now, the franchise is set to expand even more, beyond the boundaries of digital devices, with a new release scheduled to happen in October 2026. As seen on the official Dark Horse Direct website, a new Octopath Traveler RPG is arriving soon, and players will be able to take control of their favorite characters from the video games or create brand-new ones as they explore the land of Orsterra.
