Even if the series eventually lost more popularity with each outing, the massively popular Pirates of the Caribbean films are hands down some of the best pirate-themed movies of all time. Offering an excellent mix of action, comedy, and character drama that takes full advantage of their semi-historical setting, the most tragic part of PotC is how painfully little we know about the next installment in the franchise.
Having already been scrapped and restarted once during development, there's no telling when we'll get to officially revisit the world of Pirates of the Caribbean in the future, but thanks to one upcoming film project, we're getting something even better that could help revitalize the genre in the meantime.
