Much like previous entries in FromSoftware's award-winning portfolio, Elden Ring is known for its challenging combat delivered to us by some of the most iconic bosses of all time. Whilst we can all agree to disagree on who the best boss in Elden Ring may be, there is no denying that Malenia, Blade of Miquella, offers one of the most challenging fights, but makes up for it by being one of the coolest boss designs in FromSoftware history.
However, what many Elden Ring fans tend to forget, is that Malenia is an optional boss, meaning that she does not need to be defeated in order to beat the game. Residing in the Haligree Tree and awaiting the return of her brother, players encounter the Goddess of Rot when exploring the tree created by Miquella, and upon defeating her, they will be rewarded with Malenia's Great Rune and the Remembrance of the Rot Goddess.
