Battlefield Studios has scheduled a limited-time free-to-play week for Battlefield 6, which is about to receive one of its biggest updates since launch. Battlefield 6 kicked off 2025 with a bang, smashing a concurrent player record in its early days on the market. However, the game later came under fire for several gameplay and performance issues that eventually brought its average Steam user review score down to "Mixed." Now, Battlefield Studios plans to address many of those issues with a major June update while encouraging more players to check out everything that's changed.

GameRant speaks to Battlefield Studios Seasonal and Competitive Creative Lead Ariel Giovannetti about Battlefield 6 Season 3's Blastpoint update.

Starting on June 30, alongside Battlefield 6's upcoming content update, players on all platforms will have until July 6 to download and play the game completely free of charge. However, it's worth noting that some players will need to install Battlefield REDSEC to take advantage of the promotion. The developer's official announcement states, "Requires Battlefield REDSEC on applicable platform (available separately) and all game updates." This also suggests that players must install the June 30 update to access the free trial.
