Assassin's Creed has been a powerhouse of a franchise ever since 2007. It exploded onto the scene and captivated tons of fans, dealing with the ongoing struggle between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order. It didn't just create a stealth playground; it spawned an entire franchise, delicately balancing a modern sci-fi timeline with that of various historical periods.

The odd combination of the two enthralled a ton of folks, many of whom would check out the countless sequels that followed, ushering in the eras of Renaissance Italy, Colonial America, the Golden Age of Piracy, the French Revolution, and much more.

However, all things must eventually come to an end. Thanks to a new official update on X, we know the series' current era is coming to a close.

Based on an update from the main Assassin's Creed X account, Assassin's Creed Shadows is officially "coming to a close."
