What if there was a way to play online multiplayer games with no PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Network required? No need to pay each year, just to have access to online servers and play your old favorite multiplayer games with friends. Well, that sounds too good to be true, but it is about to become a reality. PC users will soon be able to play their favorite PlayStation games online without the need for PSN or a Playstation Plus subscription.

Thanks to an active modding community and the rather excellent emulator shadPS4, PC players will soon have access to shadNET. The legality behind emulating consoles on PC and playing online against your friends is sketchy at best. But for those who dare to try, shadNET will soon offer the chance to play your favorite PS3 and PS4 games online with your friends. Of course, you should never emulate a game you don't already own, but the chance to add new life to old games through fan servers sounds like a great idea.
