The future of the Metroid series never feels like a very certain thing, but luckily, it looks like another game is already on the way. While Metroid is undeniably iconic, it's never raked in the same sales as Nintendo powerhouses like Mario and Zelda, and the long-anticipated Metroid Prime 4 didn't set the world on fire.

Metroid Dread, on the other hand, sold several million copies after a seemingly more efficient development cycle, proving that the series can still be extremely successful under the right circumstances. Now, fans may be getting the follow-up to Dread that they've been waiting for.

A Metroid game called Metroid Ravenous appeared in a Brazilian classification rating, as reported by necrolipe on X and shared by Wario64. The document names the year of production as 2026, and, according to necrolipe, suggests a Nintendo Switch 2 release. It assigns a 12+ age rating to the game, which splits the difference between Metroid Dread's 10+ rating in Brazil and Metroid Prime 4's 14+.
