A long-running franchise like Dragon Ball Z can be summarized by its story arcs, or eras. The original Dragon Ball was, in and of itself, an era for early fans. Dragon Ball Z was the era that became more synonymous with the franchise's name, while Dragon Ball GT itself was an interesting era, to say the least. Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball Daima, and everything to come are all unique eras, but one of its longest-running eras is coming to an end on July 8.
As with all subfranchise endings, there's no doubt this is bittersweet for Dragon Ball Z fans. Dragon Ball, in whatever form it takes, has been a mainstay in many anime and gaming fans' lives—and arguably even beyond. Goku's story, and those of all DBZ characters, can resonate with anyone truly.
