Activision Responds To Influx Of Cheaters In COD After Game Pass Release

After what feels like months of waiting, Call of Duty is finally on Game Pass. Indeed, the Activision first-person shooter franchise made its Game Pass debut on July 24 with the addition of Modern Warfare 3. No, not the 2011 game, though that one is Backwards Compatible, but the most recent 2023 edition of the long-running franchise.

That said, with the addition of Call of Duty to Game Pass came an influx of cheaters. According to CharlieIntel, the rise in cheaters came directly as a result of the ability for PC players to disguise their platform. That's because Game Pass on PC requires gamers to use the Xbox app on Windows, which makes them appear as Xbox players in-game and not PC players.

There's nothing better than tipping over from "always bad" to "occasionally good."

The majority of hacks and cheats exist on PC, so bad actors have been able to disguise themselves in order to infiltrate lobbies. Those who had already been caught and banned simply needed to create a new account and subscribe to Game Pass to play again, while active cheaters could potentially create accounts infinitely.
