Square Enix will reportedly consider releasing more remakes of classic Final Fantasy games, closely watching the success of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles and the upcoming Final Fantasy Resonance. The Final Fantasy studio already has multiple remakes on its launch schedule.
Final Fantasy remakes have experienced a major renaissance since the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, bringing back a multitude of fan-favorite games. The overhauled version of the adventures of Cloud Strife, released in 2020, saw critical acclaim, acting as the first entry in a trilogy of remakes set to conclude in 2027 with Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. Square Enix subsequently released the Pixel Remaster series of remasters of the first six Final Fantasy games, later launching the previously mentioned remake of the original Final Fantasy Tactics. Now, with Final Fantasy Resonance on the way, Square Enix isn't ruling out the idea of future remakes.
