One of the best and most underappreciated elements that make Batman: Arkham Knight terrific is how reactive and dynamic Gotham City and its NPCs are. For example, there are dozens of NPCs players are never forced to interact with in Batman: Arkham Knight’s GCPD hub who have lines of dialogue that are related to ongoing events in the story.

For example, NPCs will respond differently to the first playable character in the game, GCPD officer Owens, depending on whether players choose to fire their gun in Pauli’s Diner; and a pheromone-afflicted GCPD officer Boulden expresses his love for Poison Ivy to Batman throughout the game. Plus, players get to interact with members of Batman’s Arkhamverse Bat-Family, with one seemingly deliberate animation not actually being a genuine moment of interaction from the character in question.

On the 11th anniversary of Batman: Arkham Knight, a fan on Twitter/X shared a beloved interaction between Batman and Robin at Panessa Studios that players may already know about: when players crouch as Batman, Robin does, too. However, when players crouch as Robin, Batman doesn’t.
