Six years after the latest new entry, Gears of War is ending its drought this fall with Gears of War: E-Day. The prequel chapter will allow players to experience the events of Emergence Day for the first time since Gears of War 4’s brief, expositional prologue, and for the first time ever as Gears of War’s Marcus Fenix. While it’s terrific that we’re going to see more of Marcus and Dominic “Dom” Santiago’s friendship and how horrifying the Locusts were on E-Day, it’s unfortunate that another upcoming Gears of War entry isn’t going the same route.
Alongside Gears of War: E-Day, a Netflix Gears of War movie is officially in development. Not much has been revealed about it, to be fair, but we might already know everything we need to in order to understand what its plot will entail. Some fans believe that it’s making a grave error, as it might end up simply rehashing the events of the games instead of venturing into uncharted territory that the games have left an abundance of legroom for.
