Though a fifth mainline installment is apparently confirmed and in development and From the World of John Wick: Caine recently began filming, the John Wick franchise hasn’t sustained its incredible momentum following John Wick: Chapter 4. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina was released only last year, of course, but it still feels like it’s been quite a while since Keanu Reeves’ relentless hitman protagonist was as big a figure in the popular culture zeitgeist as he was a few years ago.
John Wick: Chapter 4 would be as decent a spot as any to have ended the series, seeing as John Wick is now allegedly dead. It’s unknown if John Wick 5 will go ahead and say that his death was faked or indulge in Ballerina’s prequel era to reflect on an era where he was once alive, but fans of the character and the Continental’s rich mythology won’t have to wait for another movie in order to experience a new John Wick adventure, which has enormous shoes to fill.
