Xbox Is Making Huge Cuts As Four Major Studios Are Sold Off

After a series of rumors and debate about its future, Xbox is officially making huge cuts, with four major studios leaving Microsoft’s gaming division. There had been a lot of discussion about potential studio closures within Xbox’s portfolio, with mentions of the legendary RPG studio, Obsidian Entertainment, being closed. After that rumor appeared, there was some talk about other studios being closed, too, but now it has been confirmed that Microsoft is making some changes with its developers, after all.

According to a report by The Verge, Microsoft is officially selling off four of its Xbox studios, which will not only see thousands of employees laid off but also reduce the size of Xbox Game Studios. The report mentions that 4,800 employees are being laid off from Microsoft today, July 07, and that more than 30% of those job losses, approximately 1,600 employees, come from the Xbox division. A part of the reason behind this is that Microsoft has decided to sell four of its major first-party studios.
