New Far Cry Officially Confirmed By Ubisoft

By 2027, it’ll be six years since a mainline Far Cry installment has been released. This is par the course for how excruciatingly long and dubious development cycles can be regarding AAA, AA, and indie games alike, though whether fans will ever see a beloved IP revisited obviously still weighs on them heavily, even when there’s already been official confirmation.

Considering the volatility and unpredictability of the video game industry nowadays, even the announcement of a new game doesn’t mean that it’ll rear its head any time soon, nor does that mean it is guaranteed to be released. Fortunately, fans of Ubisoft’s Far Cry franchise can let out a sigh of relief.

As per Ubisoft’s 2025-26 Universal Registration Document and Annual Financial Report, originally reported by GamesRadar, there will be a lot that Ubisoft fans can look forward to in 2027 and beyond. The rest of 2026, meanwhile, will be a bit dry following the release of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced:

Beyond fiscal year 2026-27 the Group expects a significantly bigger content pipeline over fiscal year 2027-28 and fiscal year 2028-29 across its major brands including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Ghost Recon.
