Leaker Gives Progress Update on Rumored Resident Evil 1 Remake

A leaker claims that pre-production on a remake of the original Resident Evil began about one year ago and suggests that it could be a while before the game is released. Capcom has spent the last few years remaking several games in the Resident Evil franchise, and the resulting releases have been critically and commercially successful for the publisher.

The original Resident Evil got an overhaul in 2002 on GameCube. That version has been ported to several different platforms and remains widely available. Despite this, another remake of Resident Evil has been rumored to be in the works. If those rumors are correct, it's likely Capcom will try to make a version of the game that matches the more recent remakes. That means the static camera and "tank" controls that were present in the 1996 and 2002 versions could be replaced.

Resident Evil fans desperately want a movie that feels like the video games, and they might finally get it with the upcoming reboot.
