Square Enix and development partner Tencent have announced the shutdown of a Final Fantasy game, which is the second game to make end-of-service announcements in a short period. Recently, Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis would shut down on October 6, and another game is set to go before it.
What's odd is that there are major single-player Final Fantasy games releasing within striking distance of these shutdowns. The HD-2D Final Fantasy Resonance game releases on October 22, just a few weeks after these two shutdowns. Then, in Spring 2027, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is set to release.
