Nintendo Gives Fans Their First Official Look at New Switch Joy-Con

Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers just received a significant change, as Nintendo demonstrated a key difference that separates the new design from its predecessor. However, the updated Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controller should not fare any differently from previous iterations in terms of functionality.

The Joy-Con controller lineup has been a staple of Nintendo's accessory repertoire since 2017. The original Joy-Con was noted for its small form factor and ability to be used when either attached to or detached from the Switch console. This controller was later succeeded by the Joy-Con 2, which came in a larger size and new functions like mouse mode. Additional Joy-Con color variants have since been released for players to pick from.
