Red Dead Redemption 2 Players Can Now Explore Mexico Without Any Mods

Despite Mexico playing a large role throughout the events of Red Dead Redemption, the same cannot be said for Red Dead Redemption 2. Instead, the beloved sequel saw players explore a fictional American Frontier, traveling through various different states across Central America and the Caribbean.

Although Mexico can be found in Red Dead Redemption 2's game files and feature assets such as the town of Escalera, unlike Red Dead Redemption, it is out of bounds for Arthur. As a prequel, it makes sense that the story reveals how John Marston ended up in Mexico, but for those who enjoyed the setting of the first game, it was a shame to not be able to revisit it in all of its next-gen glory.

That being said, in recent years, modding groups have been working on a way to bring Mexico to Red Dead Redemption 2, and the results can be found in the Nuevo Paraiso mod.
