Call of Duty Movie Officially Has a Game Setting

Peter Berg, the director and co-writer of the upcoming Call of Duty live-action movie has officially confirmed that it'll be set in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare universe. While no exact details of the movie's plot have been confirmed just yet, this setting might mean that the Call of Duty movie will revolve around well-known characters like Captain Price, Ghost, Soap, and Makarov.

An official Call of Duty live-action movie has been in the works for over a decade now, with Activision announcing its intentions to release major blockbuster adaptations as early as 2015. In 2017, Activision doubled down on its intentions, with Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk stating that multiple Call of Duty live-action projects were in the works and that the production team had "plotted out many years." News of any live-action Call of Duty project then went silent, only to resurface in September 2025 when Activision confirmed it was working with Paramount to finally create a movie based on the game series.
