There's no shortage of dragons in the Game of Thrones universe, with George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood introducing a massive lineage covering thousands of years of Targaryan history with the mystical beasts. HBO has brought many of those legendary dragons to life over the past several years through House of the Dragon, giving fans an actual visual representation of iconic creatures such as Vhagar, Caraxes, Syrax, Meleys, Sunfyre, Vermithor, Silverwing, and Dreamfyre.
In both the show and the books, every dragon boasts a distinct appearance, personality, and even fighting style, all representing a unique bond between rider and beast. From Vhagar's terrifying size to Caraxes' serpentine design to Meleys' speed and elegance, the series has expanded the franchise's dragon lore far beyond what viewers experienced in the original Game of Thrones show.
Of course, none of those dragons would have captured imaginations without Daenerys Targaryen's legendary trio, Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion, paving the way on screen.
