After weeks of rumors and leaks, developer Firesprite and publisher Sony revealed Until Dawn 2 at the State of Play event in June 2026, and Until Dawn 2 is interestingly similar to an upcoming release from Obsession director Curry Barker. Perhaps the connection wasn't immediately obvious because of the weeks between news, but Obsession is currently in the zeitgeist, with its theatrical release and streaming releases (in May and July 2026) seeing many horror fans flock to it.
Until Dawn 2 is a narrative-driven horror game focused on choice and consequences, as in the original Until Dawn, although that's the main connection. Until Dawn 2 exists in the same universe as the first game, but it moves away from the group of "friends" on Blackwood Mountain to the crew of Dead True on a tropical island. Dead True is a paranormal hunting group where everything is faked and staged until they are forced to encounter real supernatural horrors on said tropical island. This tropical island serves as the stage for Dead True's first professionally funded episode, with the only real hints toward the supernatural threats right now being that it's tied to the island's history.
