With all the hubbub around the latest Mortal Kombat movie adaptation right now, it's easy to forget that the future of the franchise hasn't really been laid out by developer NetherRealm Studios just yet. Mortal Kombat 1 was obviously the most recent effort, and the last couple of years have been dominated by additional releases of that.
That said, Mortal Kombat King Ed Boon has explicitly stated that they are working on other projects tied to the franchise, including what will presumably end up being something of a sequel. Now, we have a new teaser that suggests additional news could be on the way, and it will likely come as a major relief for fans of the franchise.
Over on Reddit, one user shared a post featuring a quote from the director of the Mortal Kombat movie adaptation Simon McQuoid, in which he teased a little about NetherRealm and Ed Boon's plans for the next game:
