Final Fantasy 9 is often hailed as one of the best games in the series, and it isn't hard to see why. However, despite being a truly tremendous release and offering a remarkably memorable narrative, little has been done with it outside of a few cameos for its core cast and appearances in crossovers. It's a shame, especially considering just how much potential there is for a Final Fantasy 9 remaster or even remake, the latter being a project fans would absolutely love to see.

Of course, there were the 25th anniversary celebrations last year, which only helped further fuel all the rampant FF9 remake leaks and speculation. Square Enix released several new Final Fantasy 9-related projects for the anniversary celebrations, the vast majority of which were warmly received by fans. Fortunately, despite the celebrations having ended several months ago, Square Enix still has one more project left to unveil that fans will absolutely want to check out.

While there has been acknowledgment of an FF9 remake from Square Enix, this new project is sadly not that. It would be remarkable for the studio to announce and subsequently release a full-blown remake of a beloved Final Fantasy...
