Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 1 was released in 2012 to massive critical acclaim. Its narrative remains one of the best Walking Dead stories to date, and the game helped to revitalize the struggling adventure game genre. Player choice was central to the experience, carrying through to later seasons in a way that truly mattered. Players were responsible for which characters lived and died, and they would live with those choices throughout their entire playthrough. Even 14 years later, it's a remarkable adventure game, one that is well worth playing, free or not.
