Age ratings are often little more than a formality for a game like Grand Theft Auto 6, but the latest managed to reveal some previously undisclosed open-world gameplay details. Every mainline game in Rockstar's open-world crime series has further pushed into mature territory, with violence, drugs, sex, and profanity all being long-established parts of the formula. GTA 6 is no different in that regard, but its rating arrives at a point when Rockstar has spent the past few weeks emphasizing how much more detailed and immersive its next game will be.
The PEGI rating is particularly useful because the board's description goes beyond simply identifying mature themes. Instead of stopping at broad labels for violence, sex, and drugs, the listing details several of the things players can actually do while freely exploring the world of GTA 6. The description also covers other general gameplay features, including interactions with animals, language, and optional in-game purchases.
