A bunch of Spider-Man freebies are swinging onto PlayStation Plus today, but before you run to boot up your store page, hear me out: it’s not a game.
PlayStation Plus subscribers can claim free Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars starting October 6, giving their PSN profiles a little Marvel makeover without having to spend anything extra. The promotion is tied to the digital release of Sony’s latest Spider-Man movie through Sony Pictures Core. The movie has already become one of the biggest theatrical releases ever, crossing the $2 billion mark worldwide and putting itself within striking distance of the all-time top three.
So, if you were hoping to download Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 or another full Spider-Man title through PlayStation Plus, that will have to wait… for now. But a set of limited-edition profile avatars based on Spider-Man: Brand New Day doesn’t sound bad either.
You can get the free Spider-Man avatars through the Sony Pictures Core app, rather than as one of the regular monthly games in the PlayStation Plus section. Plus members can claim them at no additional cost, making this more of a bonus for subscribers than a new addition...
