Grand Theft Auto has never been shy about giving its protagonists big personalities, with GTA 6 now joining the fray, and the series has also always used those characters to say something about the worlds they live in. Niko Bellic arrived in Liberty City looking for a fresh start, while Arthur Morgan spent Red Dead Redemption 2 watching the life he knew slowly fall apart. GTA 6 is taking another approach with Lucia, whose story appears to be built around a much simpler goal: getting a better life for herself.
That idea fits particularly well with where GTA 6's open world is taking players. Leonida gives Rockstar Games a fictional version of southern Florida filled with wealth, crime, tourism, and plenty of people trying to get ahead. Vice City is at the center of it all, but the story is also interested in the people living beyond GTA 6's nightlife and beaches. For Lucia, the pursuit of a better life is what brings many of those ideas together.
