After the recent official announcement that Bungie would resume work on Destiny 2, the game is already getting an update. The looter-shooter's death was announced on May 21 of this year, with the Monument of Triumph update being released on June 9, marking the end of live service and overall support for the game, which was meant to be left online and playable. Despite that, and despite the fact that Bungie's and Sony's decision seemed set in stone, fans remained very vocal, and Destiny 2 was recently given a second life.

With no clear updates about the game's future, there were rumors that Bungie would shut down or that Marathon and Destiny 2 would merge. These have since been dismissed by the company's staff, and were then followed by the official Bungie post about the future of its games. This was hinted at by some content creators ahead of time, stating that Destiny 2 would get a new update at some point.
