Since appearing for the first time back in 2009 with Assassin's Creed 2, Ezio Auditore de Firenze has cemented himself as one of the most iconic video game characters of all time. So much so, that, despite Ubisoft choosing to introduce a brand-new assassin for each entry in the franchise, Ezio stayed on for three mainline games, including Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations.
Fans just could not get enough of the cheeky Italian assassin operating in Renaissance Italy, and although it has been many years since we last saw Ezio in action, it seems as though he is finally set to return this month in a huge new crossover game.
Assassin's Creed: Animus is a board game inspired by the long-running stealth video game series by Ubisoft. Created by Mantic Games’, it began its life as a Kickstarter campaign that went onto raise more than £274,000 courtesy of 2,828 backers. Now, in the competitive tabletop experience, players will get to take on the role of some of Assassin's Creed's most iconic characters as they compete against each other to become the Master Assassin.
