Few weapons in gaming are as recognizable as the Master Sword, and a new release in June 2027 celebrates its iconography. Across The Legend of Zelda series, the legendary blade has served as Link's most important weapon, appearing in different forms and playing different roles depending on the adventure. Even players who have never finished a single Legend of Zelda game can probably recognize the blue-and-gold sword almost immediately, making it one of Nintendo's most important pieces of game iconography.
The Master Sword has also changed quite a bit from game to game, but certain details have remained instantly recognizable. The blue blade, winged guard, and Triforce symbol have helped establish its look across generations, while games like Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom have each given the sword a different place in their stories. With The Legend of Zelda continuing to celebrate its 40th anniversary (even into 2027), the Master Sword remains one of the clearest symbols of the franchise.
Nintendo officially announces a brand-new feature coming to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.
