Cartomancy Anthology is a collection of 22 games that launched on Steam in 2022 for $24.99 USD, but it is now completely free to play. The game began as a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $30,000 and was also planned for release on Nintendo Switch. However, the campaign did not reach its stretch goal, so the game launched exclusively on Steam and itch.io.
Unlike many indie games that go free-to-play on Steam after a poor reception, Cartomancy Anthology has always been well received. It currently has over 90% positive user reviews on Valve's storefront, with similarly favorable scores on itch.io. Another distinctive feature of Cartomancy Anthology is that it was not developed by a single person or studio. In fact, 22 teams and over 70 developers contributed to the project.

Without prior notice, Cartomancy Anthology went from a paid title to a free-to-play Steam game on October 2, 2026. Developer Compact and publisher Code Coven have yet to comment on the change, and it remains unclear why the $24.99 price tag was removed....
