Zombie shooters typically make infection feel like a punishment, as one bite can remove you from the human team and send you after the friends you were protecting. Indie multiplayer game Disbond makes that switch part of its appeal. Everyone begins a round human, but 20 seconds later, one player turns, and every survivor bitten afterward joins the infected side, shrinking humanity’s numbers as the round unfolds.
Developed by Galin under Bozz Studio, Disbond takes inspiration from Unreal Tournament, Doom, Quake, and Counter-Strike 1.6. It prioritizes fast movement, environmental chaos, and unique abilities over realism. The full game is listed as coming soon on Steam, though a free demo is available during Steam Next Fest through October 26, 2026. Players interested in trying its core loop have a limited window to jump in.
Disbond’s two modes change what survival means in games. In Survival, humans can group up, build a barricade, and fight until the round ends, or split off, hide, and try to outlast the horde alone. Escape sends players toward an objective at the far end of the map, where they must clear obstacles, battle infected enemies, and secure key positions on the route.
