Modern Warfare 4 released globally for PC and consoles on October 23. Its platform list includes the Switch 2, making it the first Call of Duty game since 2011's Modern Warfare 3 to launch on a Nintendo console. At the same time, it is also the first series entry since 2023's Modern Warfare 3 reboot not to have a day-and-day Xbox Game Pass release. Select modes were available to play early, with early access to the single-player campaign beginning on October 16 and DMZ following on October 20, but the full package (including multiplayer) only became available three days later. As a result, players are still in the opening stages of progressing through Modern Warfare 4's persistent progression systems.
