Classic Final Fantasy Games Are Making Yet Another Comeback

The original Final Fantasy games are getting another re-release, as Square Enix recently revealed the Final Fantasy 1-6 Collection Edition, which complies the first six games in the series with various extra goodies. Releasing later this year on October 8 for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, the title collects every Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster in one single package and is currently available for pre-order on the Square Enix website at a cost of $74.99.

For a long time, the iconic Final Fantasy series was only playable through a series of disjointed ports, remasters and past releases on older consoles, so fans rejoiced when Square Enix released the Pixel Remaster series in 2022 on Steam. The remasters later received ports to the PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch as digital-only titles until they eventually received a limited physical run with the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Collection on the Switch.

While the Final Fantasy series has broad appeal, its experimental streaks have created games that fans either love or hate.
