A new official post by Bungie details the timeline for upcoming releases in Destiny 2, including unvaulting plans and an update with all-new content coming in 2027. Bungie's iconic looter-shooter was supposed to get a new expansion this year, called Shattered Cycle, but instead, the studio announced that it would cease all support for the game after a final update in June. The Monument of Triumph update was one of the biggest and most beloved in Destiny 2's history, and players showed up and showed support for both Bungie and the game.
After months of players being vocal about why the game should live on, including a Sony State of Play showcase where the chat was taken over by requests for a Destiny 3, Bungie finally announced in September that it would resume work on the franchise. The first step is going to be unvaulting all content in Destiny 2, including campaigns, DLC stories, Raids, locations, and more. Specifics were unclear up until recently, but a new, heartfelt post by Bungie's Josh Dean finally reveals more of what (and when) is coming.
Destiny 2 gets a new big update, and it's very encouraging for the franchise's future....
