The upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is changing Cliff's story so that he is no longer a Vietnam War veteran. Capcom took Dead Rising fans by surprise when it announced a big new remaster of the 2006 original with revamped control options, new quality-of-life features, and greatly improved graphics. The game seems to be going above and beyond what fans expect from a remaster, though this also includes some controversial changes.

The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is making changes to some of the original game's content, particularly when it comes to things that some may find offensive. The big one is that Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is doing away with Erotic photos, which encouraged players to take suggestive photos of women for extra points. Psychopath Larry Chiang's design has also been toned down, as some felt the original design was racist.
