2K Games and Hangar 13 have announced Mafia: The Old Country, a mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily.
The announcement was the closer to Gamescom's Opening Night Live, with an additional promise that we will learn more details in December. Mafia: The Old Country is set to release in 2025 during parent company Take Two's 2026 fiscal year, which gives us an approximate release between October and December 2025.
The teaser trailer doesn't give much to go on besides some aesthetic shots of a (assumed) mobster's room in his villa and a rustic-looking Sicilian town. Publisher 2K released a blog post coinciding with the announcement, revealing a little more information about Mafia: The Old Country's setting.
We don't know the exact period of Mafia: The Old Country as the mob was active in Sicily throughout the entire century. The criminal organisation experienced a boom in the 1950s after gaining control of building contracts on the island, potentially offering Hangar 13 an approximate time period to work with.
