A full look at Dune: Awakening has been shown at the 2024 Gamescom Opening Night Live. Funcom's title - which the studio made in collaboration with the Herbert Estate and Legendary to set a visual tone that matches that of the recent movies - was revealed at Gamescom back in 2022, showing an alternate take on the story and world fans are familiar with as they explore Arrakis 8 years after what would be the events of Dune in the Open World Survival MMO title.

The new footage shown at Opening Night Live provided a look at the game's customization options, as players create their own character from appearance to background before venturing out into the desert planet. From here, it is a fight for survival by learning the ways of the Fremen by learning the ways of the Fremen to avoid deadly sandworms and other threats while enduring the scorching sun and other environmental challenges.

Dune: Awakening will have an alternate history, creating major departures from the original books and movie adaptations.
