Twitch confirmed on social media that users in over 40 countries, including the US, will see a price increase for Tier 1 subscriptions on the iOS and Android mobile apps at a similar rate to previous hikes made in 2024. The Twitch subscription price bump will take effect starting on October 1, but users who subscribe via desktop browsers will not see any changes, nor will any Tier 2 or 3 subscriptions be affected.
Though Twitch has struggled to be profitable since its 2014 acquisition by Amazon, that has not stopped the service from retaining a dedicated viewership thanks in no small part to games such as Palworld that have proven dominant on the platform. In addition to finding ways to gain some form of profitability, Twitch has also introduced tools for streamers to combat harassment in their chat rooms and also worked with tech giant Nvidia to bring new encoding methods that are capable of making streaming on the platform a smoother experience.
