Fans can expect to see a whole new side to Tifa Lockhart in the next Final Fantasy 7 Remake entry, as director Naoki Hamaguchi is hinting at big things for the popular character. A childhood friend of Cloud Strife and a fan-favorite since the original game was released in 1997, Tifa eventually grew up to join the anti-Shinra organization Avalanche, serving as a key member of the party in Final Fantasy 7 Remake as the team battles to save the planet from Sephiroth.
Tifa’s role as a supporting character is expanded upon in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, with some players even going as far as to say that her subplot was handled better in FF7 Rebirth than in the original Final Fantasy 7. There, Tifa finds herself dealing with Cloud’s conflicting memories about their shared past, with her concern for her childhood friend growing as he continues to fall victim to both these memories and Sephiroth’s mind games. She also comes into contact with the Lifestream at one point, giving her a closer connection to the plight of the planet at the heart of Final Fantasy 7’s overarching story.
