Super Mario Eclipse Is Basically A Full Fan-Made 3D Mario Game

Super Mario Sunshine is one of the most polarizing Mario games to have ever been created. While full of groundbreaking ideas, the GameCube title's frustrating cameras and even more frustrating level design mean the game is viewed in a complex way.

Just don't bring the pachinko machine back.

For the last four years, however, a team has been meeting with the goal, "What if we made Super Mario Sunshine, but good?" Thus, Super Mario Eclipse was born.

Created by Eclipse Team, a group of modders, Super Mario Eclipse effectively rebuilds the whole of Super Mario Sunshine.

Described by its creators as "one of the most ambitious Mario fan projects of all time," Eclipse reworks all 120 shrines from the original game for a "unique open-play experience." The game will take place across Isle Delfino, with locations like Bianco Hills, Sirena Beach, and Noki Bay all seemingly making their returns.
