Over the past few years, the Yakuza series has become one of the most beloved in gaming. Its serious story, combined with silly sidequests and loveable characters, has endeared it to millions.
While the games have been released on multiple Xbox and PlayStation systems, they have been mysteriously absent from Nintendo's.
However, after what feels like forever, during today's Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, Nintendo confirmed that the first title in the series, Yakuza Kiwami is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the original 2005 PlayStation 2 title Yakuza, is set in Kamurocho and focuses on the story of Kazuma Kiryu.
Developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega, Kiwami was released on PlayStation 3 and 4 in 2016, on PC in 2019, and on Xbox in 2020. Now, eight years later, the series is finally coming to Nintendo Switch.
Unfortunately, it currently looks like Kiwami is the only Yakuza title making its way to the Nintendo platform.
