Some recent information suggests that the extensively rumored PS5 Pro may offer a near 200% jump in SSD storage space compared to the standard PS5. Previous leaks alleged a significant performance uplift on the PS5 Pro, but if this latest information is true, the upgraded mid-generation console will afford users a lot more internal storage to download and play their favorite games.
The tremendously shorter load times made possible by the PS5's vaunted high-speed SSD have impressed many players, but the 825GB storage capacity on the pre-Slim versions of the console spelled trouble for usable space. After deducting the space required by the operating system, the standard PS5 only has 667GB of usable SSD space. This was somewhat rectified by the PS5 Slim's bigger 1TB SSD, which offered around 840GB of usable storage space. PS5 owners also have the option to further expand their console's storage up to 8TB using a compatible off-the-shelf Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD.
