Final Fantasy 16 was briefly released on PlayStation Plus, much to the surprise of the fandom, but the game was only available in certain regions and has since been removed. Serving as the 16th main installment in the franchise, Final Fantasy 16 was only just released in 2023, and subscribers had a fleeting time playing the title for free one year later.

Set in the world of Valisthea, Final Fantasy 16 is considered one of the best dark fantasy action RPGs, with a narrative following brothers Clive and Joshua Rosfield, who can summon titan-like monsters called Eikons. The game continued the series’ shift into action combat over turn-based, which divided the community, and it also became the first Final Fantasy title to be released with a Mature rating.

With rumors of Xbox receiving a port of Final Fantasy 16, the action RPG should just be the beginning for multiplatform Final Fantasy releases.
