Playing as a ghoul in Fallout 76 will allow players to experience a variety of new interactions and story decisions. These revelations were recently offered by a senior Bethesda official in an attempt to shed some more light on this major Fallout 76 feature that's currently in development.
Bethesda announced plans to allow Fallout 76 players to experience the game as ghouls back in early June 2024. The studio is currently aiming to release this feature in early 2025.

While transforming into a ghoul in Fallout 76 will obviously alter the character's appearance, the change itself will be far from superficial. That's according to the game's creative director, Jonathan Rush, who said as much during a recent Gamescom interview with TheGamer. One of the ways in which playing as a ghoul will change one's experience of exploring Appalachia will come in the form of unique NPC interactions, as some characters will treat these heavily irradiated creatures differently from humans. However, this change won't apply retroactively, with ghoul-specific interactions being exclusive to future content.
