Legendary Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsuda has announced his return as a guest composer for the DLC for 2023's award-winning Sea of Stars RPG. Sea of Stars was previously released in August 2023 and was praised for being one of the best RPGs of the year, capturing the spirit of Square Enix's 16-bit RPGs. The praise is well-warranted, as some of Sea of Stars' inspirations did include Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG, both being developed by Square in the late 1990s. Not only does Sea of Stars directly emulate these older JRPGs, but it also had one of Chrono Trigger's composers on the team, Yasunori Mitsuda.
Yasunori Mitsuda is a well-known video game composer, having worked with Square Enix on a number of the company's games and their various soundtracks. Aside from Chrono Trigger, he also worked with Nintendo on games like Kid Icarus Uprising, the Xenoblade Chronicles series, and Stella Glow. Yasunori Mitsuda was a guest composer for Sea of Stars, working alongside Eric W. Brown for the game's soundtrack, where Mitsuda wrote 10 different songs. Mitsuda will have a similar role in Sea of Stars' "Throes of the Watchmaker" post-launch DLC....
